4 Different Types Of Moving Services

Posted on

When it comes to hiring moving help, there are actually different types of residential moving services that you can hire, depending on the type and level of assistance you need. If you are getting ready to move, you should be aware of a few types of moving services.

1. Moving Labor

Perhaps you have a big truck that you can use for your move, or you have access to a moving van via a family or friend. You have the transportation for your stuff, but you need help moving your items in and out of the moving vehicle.

In that case, you will want to look for a company where you can simply hire moving labor. That way, you just pay for a few professional movers to come and pack up your truck and then unload it at the final destination. You don't have to pay for transportation, as you are taking care of it; you will just pay for the labor to move your things.

2. Special Movers

You have a vehicle and labor to move most of your stuff from your new house to your old house. However, you have some special items that require extra care and attention that you don't want to move on your own.

In that case, you can hire special movers. Special movers have the training and equipment to move sensitive, valuable, and bulky items, such as pianos, artwork, and even motorcycles. They are the people you bring in to move items you don't want to risk damaging, and you want experts to handle.

3. Full-Service Movers

Sometimes, you just don't have the bandwidth to take care of a move. When that happens, you will want to work with a team of full-service movers. Full-service movers will come into your home, pack everything up, move it to your new location, and even unpack it for you. Essentially, you just get to go from one home to another, with everything in place and ready for you.

You can adjust the level of the full-service move as well. For example, perhaps you want them to set up your furniture, but you don't want them to unpack everything else. You can set up a full-service move to fit your needs.

4. Local Movers

Local movers will help you move your items from one home to another within a certain radius of their headquarters. They will provide the labor and the vehicle for the move. You will usually be charged by the hour based on the time it takes to complete your move.

Generally, you are responsible for packing up most of your stuff with this type of moving. However, the moving company can help prepare bigger and bulkier items for moving, such as a China hutch or bed.

If you are getting ready for a residential move, it is essential to know what you are getting yourself into and what help you need. All types of residential moving assistance are available to help make your next move an easy one.
